Maths week in J3

18th Oct 2018

We have been doing lots of work on pumpkins. We arranged pumpkins in order of size and guessed which one would weigh more. We cut up a pumpkin to see what was inside, then did lovely pumpkin art to show the cross section of a pumpkin. We used Numicon to help make sets of the required amount of pumpkin seeds. There was Numicon in our small world play where we explored making sets of spiders and driving vehicles under and through carved out pumpkins. We made sets of pumpkins out of play dough and counted out sets of conkers. Some of us like playing a memory game where we have to turn over cards and see if we have a matching Numicon shape and number. We even had a birthday in class this week and we counted 6 candles on the cake! We incorporate lots of maths in our daily play activities and with being 'Maths Week' we thought we would share what we got up to this week.
