Pupils from S1 had an Easter Egg Hunt with a difference. Each egg had a number on it. The pupils had to follow the clues in the school grounds and work as a team. If the team managed to find and tick off each of the 10 eggs on their clipboards then there was a prize of an Easter egg for each pupil. The good news is that all 10 eggs were found and great fun was had by all! We also had and egg and spoon race followed by an Easter party. So everything was “Eggtra Special” that day!
STEM DAY AT KILRONAN
S1 pupils participated in STEM activities in Kilronan School. This is a day where pupils engage in activities involving Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. It is a perfect occasion for bringing all these subjects to life. Pupils participated in making a solar powered fan and a battery powered car. They also participated in a variety of Maths games including Sudoku. The pupils all participated really well in the activities, showed lots of interest and enjoyed working together.
World Book Day
We all had great fun dressing up as characters from books. We also had a parade so that we could see all the costumes and everyone could see ours. In S1 pupils brought one of their favourite books into class to share with everyone. It was very interesting to see each pupil’s choice. The teacher read a book belonging to a different person each day. Pupils felt very proud when it was their turn to have their book read to the class.
Our Coffee Morning.
S1 and S3 classes held their annual Coffee Morning this term to raise funds for the N.I Hospice. For many of the pupils in S1 this was their first time helping at such an event. It was a great work experience project for them and they all rose to the challenge. The pupils helped plan for the event by designing posters to advertise the event, by sending out invitations and by drawing up rota times for the different classes to attend.
They also helped to set up the room in preparation for the event. On the day of the Coffee Morning they welcomed all staff and pupils to the event and helped to serve tea, coffee and juice, together with tray bakes, to all those who came to support the event. The pupils also helped to tidy up and wash up after the event. The Coffee Morning proved to be a very worthwhile event and we were very proud of all the pupils. A big “Well done” to all the pupils involved !
Bee Safe 2016 Workshops
Pupils from S1 attended a variety of workshops organised by the Mid Ulster Council. Workshops included stations on Farm Safety, Fire Safety, Electrical Safety, Bus Safety, Smoking, Cyber Bullying and Helping Hands.
Pupils enjoyed the workshops and learned a lot about keeping safe.
