The Prizewinners

The Judges had a very tough time deciding on the prizewinners in each class. Prizes were awarded for 'The most Creative' and 'The most Original' in each class.

A number of our senior pupils have availed of the opportunity to stay after school and learn about movie making. They have had great fun learning how to use a wide variety of apps including iMovie, comic life and green screen. It has all been very interesting.  This is a small snip-it of what we have been doing, keep an eye out for our finished movie which should be online shortly!

Maths Week Ireland October 2016

Kilronan School participated this year in Maths Week Ireland 2016. It was a great opportunity for everyone to highlight the practical activities and games that their pupils participate in during the year, to help to develop mathematical skills and concepts.
The pupils seemed to really enjoy all the activities, and at the same time were learning about Numeracy through play, games, practical activities, topic work and ICT. Here are photographs from the classes who participated.

We loved the UV tent, playing in the dinosaur swamp, exploring frozen dinosaur eggs and lots of other fun activities! The snow and bubble machines were a great hit and it was an amazing opportunity to get our socks and shoes off, put on old clothes and get messy with our play!

Our School Choir were successful at Coleraine Festival!

Replay Theatre Company visits Kilronan!

We were delighted to welcome back the Replay Theatre Company. They put on a wonderful interactive performance for some of our PMLD pupils called Closer.

The Children were taken on an sensory journey into space and beyond and they had a fantastic experience.

The actors interacted with the children so well and we couldn't sing their praises highly enough!

Kilronan recently welcomed Makaton Tutors Elizabeth Harvey and Leanne Dornan. Staff completed a Makaton Foundation Workshop, taking place over two days. The workshop combined theory and practice. For some staff this was their first opportunity to attend a formal makaton workshop and for others it was a welcome refresher. Everyone has been hard a work putting thir skills into practice.

Makaton is a registered charity (www.makaton.org.) Anyone interested in attending Makaton training should contact Carrie Ross, Speech and Language Therapist at Kilronan.
