Christmas In France Scrapbooks and Claude Monet Water Lily Art Work.

5th Jan 2020

Look at our beautiful sensory scrapbooks highlighting some facts and pictures about France. We looked at pictures of the famous Eiffel Tower and then stuck them into our books and made our own large light up Eiffel Tower from big cardboard boxes to stay in the classroom while we explored France.

We explored facts about the cycling event ‘Tour de France’. We made a small bike using pipe cleaners to represent this big event and stuck them into our scrapbooks. We looked at the map of France, the colours of the flag and explored some more traditional French foods e.g bread/baguettes and French onion soup.

We then explored the famous French impressionist Claude Monet and his famous water lily flower paintings. The paintings are of his flower garden at his home in Giverny in France and they were the main focus of his artistic production during the last 30 years of his life. We made our own beautiful 3D water lilies out of paper plates by painting them blue and green and then stuck on colourful bun cases to represent the lily flower for our classroom display board.
