Dinosaurs

1st Apr 2019

J3 are very thankful that we did not live along with dinosaurs! We pretended we were archaeologists and dug up bones during play based learning. We sorted dinosaurs into various categories for example, those that have horns/ long necks/long tails/ spikes etc. We read stories about dinosaurs and had fun dressing up in a dinosaur costume. We discovered there were some really large dinosaurs and some small ones. Some dinosaurs ate meat while others ate leaves and that is why they had long necks like a giraffe! We used non-standard units to measure dinosaurs and one of our favourite activities was using clay to make dinosaur fossils. The clay was really cold and we had to warm it up with our hands before we rolled it out. We pressed some dinosaur skeletons into the clay to make an inprint. We left our 'fossils' in the windowsill to dry out and after about a week the clay had dried and was really hard. We were able to varnish our fossils and had fun matching them to the dinosaur skeletons.
