Recent workshops

8th Apr 2019

Pupils and staff were very lucky to attend workshops in school facilitated by Habitat for Humanity and Trocaire.

On Monday 1st of April, Peter from Habitat for Humanity explained to us the work that they do in other countries to help young children and families. These families live in houses with very poor conditions and Peter showed us how Habitat for Humanity helps. He used a very fun and interactive story of the Three Little Pigs to illustrate the types of houses these families live in. The pupils really enjoyed this. We had the opportunity to draw what we think houses should look like and how these are very different from some homes in different countries.

Roisin from Trócaire  came in to discuss with the senior school how three girls have been living. Maria, Patricia and Maya live in countries where the government are very intimidating and are trying to remove their families from their homes. Roisin told us that by donating to Trócaire we can help those families keep their homes and in fact build better housing. It was very interesting
