Festivities in S7

16th Dec 2021

S7 have really enjoyed the build up to Christmas. Pupils have been busy preparing for our Christmas Show performance ‘The Snow Princess with a Harry Potter Twist’ over the last number of weeks. It was great to see our young people grow in confidence each week as they performed their role and worked together with another class to put on a wonderful performance.

As part of our Science and Technology curriculum we used different sizes of wood to create a nativity scene. We sanded the wood down to ensure our wood was lovely and smooth to enable us to painted the wood. Once this step was complete we used our problem solving skills to decided which pieces of wood, would be best suited for our nativity characters. Our nativity science is displayed in our schools foyer for everyone to enjoy.

Our fine motor skills were put to test to create some lovely decorations for our local Foodbank in Magherafelt. The decorations we created will be displayed on food hampers and given to families within our local community over the festive period.

Everyone loves this time of the year and especially getting to the Christmas Markets. In Home Economics we decided to create a little German Market and enjoyed making non alcoholic mulled wine and German Sausages. We enjoyed measuring and weighing the correct ingredients  for our mulled wine and watching our mulled wine come to the boil on the hob. It tasted delicious. Our German Sausages went down a treat too, once we decided the best cooking method.

S7 have enjoyed getting dressed up for Elf Day on 4th December and enjoyed a lovely Christmas Dinner.

During the month of December we also were visited by a very naughty Elf who got up to lots of mischief during the night. Each morning we arrived into class in anticipation, wondering what the elf had gotten up to in our classroom.

We have thoroughly enjoyed the festive period to date and wish all our family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
