Kilronan School Council visit Magherafelt Council Chambers

26th Feb 2019

Some pupils from our School Council recently had the opportunity to visit the Magherafelt Council chambers. When we arrived we were invited to the Chairman’s office to relax on the leather suites and to have a chat .  Then we moved into the Chamber where Councillor McPeake gave everyone a chance to speak around the table. We pressed our buttons to operate the microphones when we wanted to speak. Pupils answered Councillor McPeake’s question, “What is one thing you would ask the Council to do?”.  We suggested having more play parks and facilities for young people, an outdoor gym and more bins for dog foul on our streets. We also discussed ECO schools and Rights Respecting Schools Award in Kilronan. A great time was had by all and we were excited to find out what was in the generous goodie bags given to us from the Council too. School council would like to thank Councillor Sean McPeake and Mr Sean Henry for organising such an informative and enjoyable visit for us.
