This year, our S11 pupils have been exploring the world of small business through our very own venture, “Kilronan Krafters”. As a class, we brainstormed names and voted on the winner. We used Copilot to design logo ideas by entering prompts based on our school ethos, colour scheme, and products; pupils then voted for their favourite design. We started by discussed ideas; our business ethos, products, roles, budgeting, and where to sell. Pupils learned about loans, interest, and financial planning, even applying for a loan from Mrs. Deehan to fund our start-up.
We decided to make Christmas Candles and Cards. We completed product research using sample candles with pupils and staff from other classes to gauge which scents were most popular. Production was a success, and between our sale at Meadowlane Shopping Centre and school staff the candles sold out! The pupils have loved taking part in this mini enterprise, and we can’t wait to share our next products soon.
