Science Week: Exploring Rain, Colour and Growing Plants!
This week we celebrated Science Week with a range of exciting investigations linked to our topic “Roots, Shoots and Muddy Boots.” Pupils took part in practical experiments that helped us explore how plants grow and the important role water plays in the natural world.
We created our very own rain cloud using shaving foam, water and food colouring. Pupils loved watching the “rain” slowly fall through the cloud, and we discussed why rainfall is so important for helping plants grow strong, healthy roots.
We also carried out a capillary action experiment to observe how water moves through materials. Pupils were fascinated as they watched different coloured water travel up paper towels and blend together. Using our core boards, we made predictions about what might happen and how the colours might change.
