Science Week fun!
Science Week Fun!
Students had an absolute blast during Science Week as we explored a range of exciting scientific concepts through hands-on activities. Our focus for the week was Forces, especially push and pull. One of the highlights was decorating and flying our very own kites with the wonderful team from Go Fly Your Kite. This interactive workshop allowed pupils to see forces in real-life action as their kites lifted, dipped, and soared through the air.
We also learned about pollination and the important role bees play in helping plants grow. Using cheese puffs to represent pollen, pupils buzzed from “flower to flower,” leaving behind a dusty residue—just like real bees spreading pollen!
During Attention Autism, we created our very own caterpillars while discussing the life cycle of a butterfly. Pupils were fascinated as we explored how caterpillars transform into beautiful butterflies.
To finish off our science-filled week, students designed and built their own cardboard cars, complete with wheels they assembled themselves. They tested their creations by pushing and pulling them, investigating how forces make objects move. Throughout the week, we used curiosity questions to encourage deeper thinking—for example: “I wonder… if we made the wheels smaller or bigger, would the car go faster or slower?”
It was a fantastic week of discovery, creativity, and lots of scientific fun!
