Assistance Dogs NI

3rd Apr 2019

As part of the School Leavers’ Programme we are always thinking of ways in which we could contribute to our local community.

This year we have been making links with Assistance Dogs NI.  Assistance Dogs NI train assistance dogs to improve the quality of life for children with Autism and for people who have physical disabilities.  We had the pleasure of meeting Joy, the assistance dog, along with her trainer Jean and Geraldine. Joy introduced herself to everyone in Kilronan by visiting each class.

Our Cafe Revive staff donated £250 to Assistance Dogs NI. Thank you to everyone who comes to Cafe Revive each week to support us.

Some of our young people in S5 as part of their CCEA Life Skills accreditation, were involved in making hamper baskets for the dogs in training. They asked classes within the school to donate products such as bowls, squeaky toys, balls and poop bags. Once again the school community really supported our project and thanks to everyone at Kilronan who donated products for the hamper baskets.

We look forward to working with Assistance Dogs NI in the future.
