Autumn in the Orchard

16th Nov 2020

Our dramatic play area was changed into an orchard shop where we could buy lots of nutritious food. We worked on identifying different money and finding out how much items cost. Some of us were the shop keeper and some were the customers. We had to choose what to buy for breakfast, lunch and dinner and then hand over the money to the shop keeper. We also worked on sorting different types of food into food groups. It was a very busy shop with lots to buy including delicious red and green apples from an actual orchard. When the shop was quiet the shop keeper then had to go into the orchard to collect the apples and rake up the leaves. To continue with the autumn theme we made patterns using different autumn materials, used the wooden blocks to build trees and listened to an autumn story on the interactive board using our senses to listen to autumn sounds and exploring the different textures of things we might find in an orchard.
