J1 enjoyed using their senses to listen and respond to the story of the Gingerbread Man. Through this story and play based learning activities pupils had the opportunity to develop their communication and literacy skills, explore similarities and differences in relation to themselves and also recognise and name body parts. The children loved dramatizing the story during dramatic and small world play and using dough to create their own gingerbread men in class. They also explored making and tasting gingerbread men in class. The pupils made sure their gingerbread men had two eyes, a nose and a mouth and really enjoyed eating them after.
